ARUP CASE STUDY
New Royal Adelaide Hospital
South Australia
South Australia
The new Royal Adelaide Hospital (new RAH) will be the State’s flagship tertiary level health care facility and will provide 700 overnight and 100 same-day beds. Arup has been involved with the $1.85 billion project for many years, co-locating our staff within the SA Health Project office, creating one high performing team to assist in delivery of the project.
Since 2008 Arup has provided a range of consulting services, using our broad global knowledge network to advise SA Health. Our advisory role has included project management of the procurement stages (through a Public Private Partnership model) feasibility and master planning early stages, acoustic, vibration, logistics and environmental advisory services, and from 2014 implementation of an integrated Program Management Office (iPMO) for the transition phase.
Critical to the success of the iPMO role has been the direct support provided by Arup to the equipment procurement, supply chain, operational commissioning and clinical activation, ICT, contract management and workforce teams, which has strengthened the links between the “project” and the “business” of the health service.
