Kathryn Start

Kathryn has Executive university, NHS Executive management, NHS Board and regulatory body experience in the UK and internationally. She has an extensive clinical career in the strategic commissioning and development of new university programmes for health, organisational change and innovation in the UK and internationally. She is qualified in nursing, neuroscience, critical and emergency care and certified ambulance services gold command/interagency response.

Her career has encompassed international university, clinical and emergency services consulting (UKTI, NHS International, British Council, FCO contracted) in the EU, USA, South Africa, Middle East, Caribbean, Southeast Asia, Brunei and Australia, including work with UK and international regulatory bodies. She has also held NHS Board appointments with executive directorships in human resources, clinical operations, education and organisation development.

Kathryn has held the positions of Turnaround Director for NHS 111 (Southeast) and Chairs of University board committees including quality and safety, validation, academic board and examination boards. NHS Foundation Trust board committee memberships include strategy, risk, safety, workforce development and remuneration.

Kathryn is an experienced Executive member of university governing bodies and as a Non-Executive Governor of Further Education Colleges serving on strategy, finance, estates, merger and development boards. She has chaired nursing charitable, voluntary and benevolent organisations and has held appointments with the USA and international nursing research societies, as well as Developer and Course Director of numerous nursing, paramedic, medical and inter-professional healthcare science degree and post- graduate courses for UK universities, international universities and medical schools.
